Vintage Alex Shagin Bronze Bela Bartok Medallion
Vintage Alex Shagin square bronze medallion of Hungarian composer Bela Bartok (25 March 1881 – 26 September 1945). Cast in high relief of his side profile this piece is signed and dated on the back by Alex Chagrin for 1993 here in Los Angeles.
Bela Bartok was a Hungarian composer and pianist. He is considered one of the most important composers of the 20th century; he and Liszt are regarded as Hungary's greatest composers.

Shagrin has works in museums and private collections around the world, including the Hermitage Museum, the Smithsonian Institution, Yad Vashem Museum, the British Museum and the Swedish Royal Medallic Collection. In 2002, as First Vice President of the American Medallic Sculpture Association (A.M.S.A.) he participated in the Federation Internationale de le Medaille (F.I.D.E.M.) congress by designing a special presentation medal for the American Delegation.
