Victorian wall mounted match holder. Antique match holder and striker in the guise of a barrel and a bulldog. Mounted as 3 separate pieces onto a backboard it is suspended on its original chain for wall hanging. The bulldog was meant as a deterrent to ward off inquisitive children from playing with matches if they could reach them. the match holder barrel is made from wood whereas the dog is cast in metal. A great display item which has the added bonus of being functional.

A great addition to your vintage kitchen, bulldog collection or match strike collection. This would make a great unique gift for a birthday, housewarming or Christmas.
