Antique French Victorian military painting. This antique oil on canvas depicts a somewhat arrogant looking lancer with his hands in his pockets looking directly at the viewer. In full battle regalia with his horse behind him he has an air of arrogance in his stance and casual manner. His unit can be clearly seen behind him readying their lances for manuoevres. This figure and his horse and both impressive and imposing on the canvas, This painting dates to the 1870's to 1900's when lancers were still an integral part of any military organization, with the last lancer charge being carried out during WW1.
