Original Signed Gouache Painting Western by Doug Wildey
Original western gouache painting by cartoon and comic book artist Doug Wildey (1922-1994). Authentic very busy western painting signed by Doug Wildey . This is thought to be part of a series of sketches prepared fro a show called "Mr Magic".
The painting reveals a magic side show being performed on a Conestoga wagon in a town to a large animated crowd. Amazingly detailed in every facet this displays the accomplished talent and thought that went into a western storyboard of the 1960's.
The influence of cinema on his work is evident especially in this panel which is staged like a film scene. The characters have a realistic, illustrative look to them along with a consistent luster of professionalism.
