Victorian Royal Doulton Lambeth Jug
Royal Doulton Lambeth lidded antique pitcher dating to the latter part of the 19th century. Earthenware jug fired in the typical two tone style along with applied engraving characters (appliqué) make this ceramic pitcher a stunning example of Royal Doultons fine work. These characters are typical English characters ranging from the foxes and hounds, drinking squires, windmills to St George and the dragon. The lidded top is manufactured by the exquisite pewterer of the era James Dixon & sons from Sheffield in a raising scallop motif with a separate thumb hinge opener. A great example of British pottery at its zenith. This antique pitcher would make a great addition to any antique kitchen or table set as a water pitcher or as a decorative item for the showroom.
