Vintage Gerard Koch Abstract Seated Bronze Sculpture German French Sculptor 1961
DESCRIPTION
Vintage abstract bronze sculpture by French artist Gerard Koch ( 1926 -2014). This vintage abstract sculpture is untitled and signed on the base by the sculptor Gerard Koch '61 and marked 1/3. This seamless sculpture depicts the what appears to be a figure seated. This is a typical large bronze by Koch in his early period which allude towards the influential forms produced by Alberto Giacometti earlier. This is a great figural sculpture in bronze completed in a small number (1 of 3) during his early body of work in 1961, he abandoned figure work after 1968.
Although born in Germany Koch was of French nationality who had his first solo exhibition in the Galerie La Spirale in Paris in 1956. This was the first of many exhibitions he exhibited in over the next 50 years, quite an achievement for any sculptor in the modern era.
Signed on bottom: Koch ~ 61 ~ 1/3
This would make a great addition to your eclectic home decor or bronze art sculpture collection.
