Vintage Wooden Myrtle Burl Kaleidoscope - Earl McNeil
Vintage myrtle burl kaleidoscope. Vintage polarized Kaleidoscope made by Earl McNeil and signed on one end with his initials EM. Complete with inlaid exotic wood stand this vintage kaleidoscope is hexagonal in shape. I assume it also has six prisms inside to mirror its shape. Made by Earl Mc Neil around 1990 using special birefringent materials to fill the object chambers that are capped with polarizing filters. Essentially the filters stop certain light frequencies or waves from entering the chamber. The birefringent material breaks the light into the visible frequencies of color - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Beautiful aesthetically inside and out.
A great addition to your vintage home decor. This would make a great unique gift for a birthday or house warming gift.
