WW2 Naval Battleship Military Phone, CVA 34 STA 83

DESCRIPTION

Extremely rare military phone from the WW2 era. This piece of WW2 memorabilia is a naval battleship telephone from the USS Oriskany (indicated by CVA-34).

The phone box is a military green color and has 2 bells o the front with the following written in gold print "Navy CVA 34 STA 83". There is also a small plaque on the front that "Kellog Switchboard and Supply Company". On the left side of the military phone is the rest for the handset (there is no handset with this piece) and on the right side is a crank handle.

The back of the phone has 5812 MX etched into the wood.

There is a screw in the middle of the front on the right hand side which opens up to reveal the internal mechanism. Local Batt Tell Triad Ckt with the sketches of the mechanics of the phone and it is stamped September 1944 USS Oriskany (CV/CVA-34) – nicknamed Mighty O, and occasionally referred to as the O-boat – was one of the few Essex-class aircraft carriers completed only after World War II for the United States Navy. The ship was named for the Revolutionary War Battle of Oriskany.

She operated primarily in the Pacific into the 1970s, earning two battle stars for service in the Korean War, and five for service in the Vietnam War.

MEASUREMENTS

Military phone measures 10" by 8.5" by 5.75" deep and weighs 14lb 14oz.   

CONDITION

In good condition but I have no idea whether it is complete internally - it is missing its handset - please see all pictures as they form part of the description
