Antique British Railway School Clock
Antique working 16" dial Scottish oak cased dial clock. Made by James Chalmers of Springburn, Glasgow, Scotland this classic working dial clock dates from around 1900-1910. The metal dial is painted a light cream color, has the name and address of the makers as well as roman numerals. James Chalmers was a clockmaker who resided in Springburn from the 1880's, perhaps this was a clock retailed by him or the store clock. Due to the size of the face it is most likely that this piece was either used as a railway waiting room clock or schoolhouse clock. The winding key and dial are included with this piece which came from a distinguished clock collection in Pasadena, California.
