Antique Doulton Crock Gin Keg ~ Royal Coat of Arms
Antique British grog Doulton style glazed crock 2 gallon barrel. Two toned large brown and cream pottery gin stoneware keg dates to the late 19th century in style. Along with the royal coat of arms appliqué on the front this English grog barrel originally contained gin which was dispensed through the now defunct brass tap.
Adorned with the order of the garter motto "Honi soit qui mal Y pense" (Shame on him who thinks evil of it) this mix of patriotic motto and coat of arms were popular on everyday items during the late Victorian period in especially from the golden jubilee in 1887.

MEASUREMENTS
Gin barrel measures 11" wide by 8" deep by 12" tall and together weigh 12lb 2oz.
CONDITION
In good condition considering age and use. An original small imprint on the main body which occurred during firing (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description).
