DESCRIPTION

Stunning ocean painting of crashing waves signed by renowned Californian artist Doris Gilbert (active in the mid 20th century). The large oil painting beautifully portrays the breaking waves on rocks of a beach as viewed through the cloud break. It was part of her portraits of the ocean series.   

The oil painting is signed in the bottom right corner.

It came with the original write up of the artist attached to the back.

Doris Gilbert's style was more on the realist side with attention to ocean details and mood of the coast such as attention to fog or light reflection off the ocean waves.

The measurements of this piece are 31" wide by 41" tall.
